“As a business leader, I recognize that I still have many gaps in my leadership skills and expertise. That’s what motivates me to pursue an MBA,” said Ms. Nguyen Bao Vy, Founder of Mangata Bedding, reflecting modestly on her primary motivation for pursuing an MBA.
Before becoming a student in the PSO MBA program, you already had a start-up. Can you share more about your start-up project?
I am Nguyen Bao Vy, Founder of Mangata Bedding. We specialize in high-quality bedding products made from natural materials for both children and adults. My team and I are dedicated to transforming how people experience quality sleep through our innovative product designs.
What was the key factor that led you to choose the PSO MBA program for your Master’s in Business Administration?
Initially, my goal was straightforward: to work hard and achieve a stable income. However, over time, I realized I wanted to explore the entrepreneurial path.
Starting my business revealed significant gaps in my leadership skills and expertise. I also sought to leverage the MBA environment to expand my network, which is crucial for a start-up founder like myself.
I researched various Master’s programs in Ho Chi Minh City and found that PSO MBA stood out to me due to its modern approach and the latest updates in its curriculum.
What positive changes have you noticed in yourself after studying at PSO MBA?
I’ve observed and been told about many positive changes in myself, both in terms of skills and knowledge.
I have developed data analysis skills. Before taking the Data Analytics course, I thought this area was challenging and not my strength. Now, I can handle most data analysis tasks required for my job. This has proven to be a highly valuable skill in advancing my start-up.
My presentation skills have also improved significantly due to the frequent presentations in the program. I am now able to communicate ideas and company directions clearly and concisely, effectively engaging and aligning my team. This improvement has enhanced my leadership and contributed to the overall growth of the company.
In terms of knowledge, PSO MBA has provided me with a strong foundation in management. This knowledge is not just theoretical; it’s complemented by practical examples and real-world experiences shared by instructors and experts. I appreciate these practical insights as they are immediately applicable to my work, particularly in business management.
You mentioned applying the knowledge to real work situations. What do you think has been the most impactful application?
Recently, I applied some of the models I learned to redesign Mangata’s marketing strategy. Thanks to these specific models, our marketing activities have become more organized and effective.
Additionally, I have been able to address long-standing issues with human resource management. I used to struggle with leading a team of employees from various age groups. Applying HR Management knowledge, I began to adjust several aspects of our HR processes. To assess the effectiveness of these changes, I conducted an internal survey and received higher ratings from employees.
Which course has impressed you the most during your studies, and what significant value has it provided you?
Among the courses I took in the first year, the Leadership course taught by Ms. Mai Linh made the most significant impression on me. Ms. Mai Linh not only shared practical experiences but also told captivating stories from her professional journey.
To me, Ms. Mai Linh is not just an exceptional teacher but also a role model for my career and personal life. She imparts knowledge with enthusiasm and dedication, igniting my passion for learning. What impressed me most about Ms. Mai Linh was her ability to balance work and personal life effectively. I aspire to achieve that balance as well. Although I haven’t reached that point yet, her stories have strengthened my belief in the capabilities of a modern woman and motivated me to continue striving.
As a modern woman, is balancing studying, working, and family responsibilities challenging, and how have you managed to overcome this?
I have a 3-year-old son and my start-up is still in its early stages. Balancing study, work, and family responsibilities is indeed a significant challenge at this time.
Fortunately, I have found a way to manage this challenge. I proactively create a strict schedule and try to allocate time flexibly among work, study, and family care. I aim to complete my studies and work within the designated time frame. When I am at home, I prioritize the remaining time for attentive family care.
Maintaining such a precise schedule is quite difficult. However, my family, colleagues, and classmates have been incredibly supportive and encouraging. Their support has helped me adapt quickly to this new, albeit busier, phase of life, which has proven to be very valuable.
Based on your experiences in the PSO MBA program, what advice would you give to those considering this program?
